Stearns: The Muslim Empires;

Study Guide: Do it!

Writing:

I’m assigning two papers this week. You’ll have two weeks and they should be manageable.

1. Document Based Question: I know we tried doing this right at the end of last semester, and then it just didn’t happen the way I wanted it to. It’s not your fault. Stuff happens when you’re juggling as many classes as I am.

The nice thing about these papers is that you don’t need to do any research. You just sit down and do it. That said, you don’t need your time and I’d rather you focus on doing it right, doing each of the steps, than doing it fast. I’m thinking after you review the instructions, read the documents, and then put it together you should be able to pull it off in a couple of hours. This is due next week in your folder on the day of class (February 2nd). I’m then going to have you all paper swap over the next week and go over the checklist and give each other feedback and brush it up some more before you give it to me February 9th. It’s crucial that you all actually do this and have it done by next week since you all depend on each other for feedback.

Do DBQ from this exam (You’ll notice we haven’t covered any of this material yet, but some of the themes should start to sound familiar). http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/apc/public/repository/ap09_frq_world_history.pdf

Grading Rubric: while the instructions before the question are helpful, this will give you a more precise idea of what they’re looking for.
